After ManaLocke's success of the sugarcane autofarm and the chicken autofarm–the latter of which he swears he'll write up someday–the next choice for an autofarm was simply logical: Pumpkins. This has become especially useful since the genetic strain for pre-carved pumpkins was stolen by the Endermen, along with many copies of an important baking recipe. As a result, any strategic pumpkin reserves have become a unstable investment.
tl;dr: The Pumpkin Farm constantly creates (un-carved) pumpkins while someone is nearby. Idle at the iron farm; collect your pumpkins when you return. Sugarcane and eggs are also being generated nearby; consider making pumpkin pie.
The farm relies on a solid-state detectors monitoring for pumpkin growth. The grown pumpkins are sheared-off at the stem as soon as they are ripe, and swiftly collected. The design is tileable, and may be scaled as large as necessary.
