Born to a world of far fewer right angles, ManaLocke first came to this realm in the first year of our Paradox, shortly after Chibi. He has found it hard to stay away ever since. From the start, he showed interest in caving and exploration, due largely to the source of his name. While ManaLocke, in the modern parlance, conveys the meaning of “one interested in and barred from magic,” it is also a phrase in the ancient Dwemer tongue, roughly translating to “finder of the abyss.” The evidence for this link presented itself to him early on, in the fifth yawning chasm that opened up beneath him in the span of a week.

At the time of arrival, Manalocke was academically engaged. Since then, he has completed his studies, earning a Ph.D. in Redstone, with post-doctoral work in kickass. His thesis, On Enchanting Tables with Finely-Variable Strengths is on display in his lab.

Locke's Lab, his home, is based out of a natural cave, and great care has been taken to preserve its features.

Along with Rigil Gearwerks, he is one of the leading explorers on the server, and will frequently seek out new caves and underground formations to explore. This is sometimes a service to others (e.g. pacifying a cave for the DTA), and frequently to get resources for experiments.

He is often found running redstone experiments in the Lab, often exploiting some aspect of Minecraft physics. These experiments have resulted in several machines and installations, including:

• The early-generation door-launcher minecart stations (seen as lost technology in Laumeier Park)
• The auto-farm and Spitfire Farm at Locke's home
• The front entrance to Mt. Paradox
• The 3×3 stone door in Ft. Gears
• The new Arch Nemesis archery test at Ft. Gears
• Most of the wiring for Mt. Paradox's gate room
• Ender's Game - the Endermen harvester
• The Icarus Feather Farm
• The current instance of Locke's Enchanting Table
• The Team Center
• The Hippodrome - Come put your horses to the test!
