Groundhogs-Fawkes Day was a huge success. Thanks to the power of highly-energetic materials, much territory was flattened to prepare for the much-anticipated minecart parking lots of the future. Stately, magnificent canyons became stately, flooded canyons full of whitewater rafting adventures. A new age of peace and prosperity dawned, as standards of living in Third-World Minecraft became similar to that found in First-World Minecraft. Players worked the landscape as if in a dream, with twin pick and shovel, “NEEEEEE-” and “-EEEEEM!” They fought duels with their trusty swords, the “House of Lords,” and exchanged deadly, explosive missiles with skeletons using their bows, the “House of Commons.”
All good things must come to an end—especially when you're nearly out of things to blow up—but we hope you enjoyed the show. Below is a gallery of screenshots taken during the event. If you've got some you'd like to add, just upload them to the :screenshot:ghfw
namespace. Or, better yet, you can add things to your wiki page, like Einlund.
Using advanced orbital imaging techniques, and GIS processing, we were able to produce a “before and after” image of the world. Areas of large changes, which many theorize may be caused by human activity, have been highlighted. Each large region is scored with a relative area. We're not really keeping score here, but if we were, then this would be it. Only changes visible from space are counted or shown here.
We'll probably host other such special events in the future. Stay tuned!
